For many couples once they discover the exciting news about their pregnancy they are intrigued to find out their babies gender. There are numerous ‘ old wives tales’ to try and guess, some of which include:
Baking Soda Test
You need to do pee into a cup and add two tablespoons of baking soda.
If the mixture stays flat then it’s a girl.
If the mixture fizzys then it’s a boy.
Wedding Ring Gender Test you
You need a strand of your hair and your wedding ring. Ask someone to hold the ring dangling from your strand of hair over your belly, keeping it steady. After it’s steady, notice how it moves:
If the ring moves in circles, it’s a sign you’re having a girl.
If you’re having a boy, the ring will move from side to side.
Some wives tales focus upon pregnancy symptoms and bump development. Other methods are to use information obtained at your 12 week dating scan approx. at 12 weeks gestation.
Ramzi Method
When you have an ultrasound, ask them to help determine on which side of the uterus your baby decided to attach themselves.
If your baby attaches to the right side of the uterus it’s a girl.
If your baby attaches to the left side of your uterus it’s a boy.
Nub Theory
Ask the sonographer to point out your baby’s genital tubercle, where you can see the genital nub:
The nub usually lays parallel or angled less than 30 degrees from the spine for girls.
The nub typically angles higher than 30 degrees from the spine for boys.
These are just only a few of the fun ways to predict your baby’s gender. The most accurate way at 97% is having an ultrasound scan preformed from 16 weeks however.
