Welcome to Somerset Early Scans
We are an experienced team of Doctors, Nurse Practitioners & Advanced Practitioner Sonographers, all with qualifications in Ultrasound.
We are passionate about supporting women in early pregnancy and since opening in 2014 we have seen thousands of clients and had wonderful feedback about our care. Our Bridgwater clinic is easily accessible from the M5, serving Taunton, Yeovil and Weston-Super-Mare. Our Bath clinic is situated in Paulton to serve Bath, Bristol, Frome, Chippenham and Warminster.
We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the General Medical Council. As well as ultrasound scans we offer Harmony non invasive prenatal testing. This is a highly accurate test for Down’s syndrome. See Harmony page for further details
We are all clinicians which means we will talk you through your scan as it progresses and answer your questions, make a diagnosis and explain the findings. No worrying silences or waiting whilst we find someone more senior! We offer longer appointments than other clinics and a very high standard of care.
Covid-19 update 6th July:
We have now cautiously re-opened for diagnostic ultrasound scans. We remain closed for gender or 4D scans. Non-invasive prenatal testing has continued throughout. We recommend that you only book an appointment if it is medically essential.
From Wednesday 8th July onwards we will be allowing 1 partner or adult to accompany you to your appointment. Children are not permitted.
To keep you safe, staff will not come to work with any new symptoms of a cough or fever in the last 7 days. Nor will they come in if a member of their household has had a new cough or fever in the last 14 days. They will be wearing masks, eye protection and gloves when they see you. All surfaces including door handles will be disinfected in between patients and hands washed thoroughly before and after each client. Please wash your hands for 20 seconds before and after your scan and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Please wear a facemask, you can bring your own or we have supplies should you need one. We will close immediately for deep cleaning if a patient with possible coronavirus enters the clinic room.
To keep others safe, you may not visit the clinic if you have a new cough or fever, loss of smell or taste within the last 7 days, or if a member of your household has had these symptoms in the last 14 days.
You will be contacted by telephone within 24 hours of your appointment to confirm your health status, and we will provide instructions with regards to waiting in your car until we telephone you to come in.
Even with every possible precaution, attendance to a healthcare setting or any public place during the pandemic carries a small risk of infection. Therefore please weigh up whether your appointment is essential and if the benefits outweigh the risks for you and your family.
During the covid19 pandemic many charities are at risk of closing due to reductions in their funding. One charity we refer our clients to is Antenatal Results and Choices (ARC).
